Sustainability of Armorica Fermented Cod Liver Oil
We only use cod caught in the UK. The UK is a world leader in sustainable and responsible fishing, and the whole process is transparent. The fishery in Peterhead which catch our cod has the highest accreditation for sustainability, which can be checked here. Our cod livers come from the North Sea and Atlantic Ocean, where cod stocks are at healthy levels.
The UK fishing industry has little demand for cod livers, so they are often discarded as waste. By taking the livers from the last days catch we reduce waste and don’t put any additional strain on the cod stocks. By offering an additional source of income for the fishermen, we also support a local and long standing fishing industry.
Other aspects of business
All of our shipping material is environmentally friendly. Our packaging material is wood wool, which can be composted, and our boxes are made from cardboard which is recyclable. The pots which our cod liver oil comes in is made of an opaque brown glass which can also be recycled.
